The Passing Of Dave Rooney - IrishDeveloper.com
January 6th, 2008
Just after Christmas I received word that one of my good friends had passed away, unfortunately he had taken his own life. This post is a final farewell to Dave Rooney and a dedication to a friend.
Dave had a friendly down to earth attitude and would do anything to help people out which made him such a remarkable person. He was always upbeat and carefree so being around him was always great craic, something I will really miss about him. He really did have a way with people and is probably why he has so many friends here in Dublin and various other countries.
He was a self taught web developer who had a great passion for the internet and had been coding since 16 years of age. He had been responsible for running the front & backend systems of booknow365, a highly successful online reservation company based in Dublin.
As a past time Dave designed and coded his own work building up a small portfolio of websites, He was always proud of the work he developed and would share it with his family & friends; I was always a fan and loved giving feedback on things that I had knowledge on (not much really).
Recently Dave landed a position within Newbay, thanks to Peter Kelly. Dave was extremely excited about the move and knew that it was a perfect fit for what he wanted to do, plus he enjoyed social networking and loved his mobile technology so he was sure to enjoy the job.
It is difficult to express my feelings on the passing of Dave but for one thing, I’ll never forget such a good person and will always remember the good times. He is loved greatly by his family and is highly respected by his many friends, sadly missed but never forgotten.
