Welcome And What Happened?

November 24th, 2007

If you are a first time reader of irelandseomarketing.com then welcome.

For those that have been here before then I guess you are wondering what happened to my blog. A couple of people already emailed to ask why the blog was unavailable and my basic reply was I deleted it. Why? Read on.

For the last couple of months I have been bombarded with requests on helping people with Search Engine Optimisation and getting over the woes of ranking a site well within the Search Engines. Most of these requests have either come from other consultants (serious) or close friends who know I play around with Search Engine type stuff, as they would put it.

If you followed my previous blog you’ll remember only too well my post on why I didn’t want to be an SEO consultant and the difficulties that must be faced when taking on clients. It only took a year for me to take a u-turn on that decision and to be honest I really think my last client (an old school SEO’er) really put me off the whole idea of fixing someone else’s website.

What about all the love from Google? First let me explain why I went ahead and did what I did. For the past 3 months I found that someone had been referring their clients to Ireland SEO Marketing, simply to get some background information. As I was told this I really knew how much that was a bad idea, my posting style and rants were not well suited to refer clients too. Some of you already seen me remove posts, this was a last attempt to save some creditability for the person who was doing the referring and of course myself. The best way to deal with this, delete the lot and start from scratch.

If you’ve been checking my positions on Google you would have seen me ranking #1 for SEO Ireland marketing or even #6 for Google Ireland homepage among some other nice and interesting phrases, Youtube Ireland was a personal. Do I care about these positions? Nope and for a number of reasons, none of which I’ll share right now.

Believe it or not it’s more than likely that irelandseomarketing.com is going to drop deep down into the search results, possibly get removed altogether. I’m expecting it and if anything, it’s going to be interesting to watch, its great learning experience eh? How it’s going to hurt to drop from the top positions for various keywords down to well, nowhere to be found on Google. I sense certain site owners will be rubbing their hands over this one and fair play.

There are a few ways I can deal with the huge overhaul. I can either sit it out or watch how the Search Engines react or I can scramble to save every last position I’m currently holding. Honestly I couldn’t be bothered scrambling, I’d rather watch and see what Google does.

At the moment all I can do give my apologies to my current readers, I hope I haven’t lost your interest, but also make sure to update your back links if your site is pointing to mine. That’s if you feel I’m sitting on a sinking ship which you want no part of, I’ll understand.

It’s all well and good that I have some SEO knowledge I can’t stress enough not to even attempt what I’ve done. Not only is this going to take a lot of work to fix its also going to kill off a percentage of my site traffic and most possibly my regular readers. They have probably finally given up reading here out of frustration with so many changes (sorry folks).

Regular posting will resume shortly, thanks for reading.

Mmm, so what are you going doing now? Working full time as an SEO Consultant?

You’ve certainly done something I wouldn’t have done if I was in your situation. :)

No way would I have pulled the plug on the SERP’d content.

Newguy, feel free to question my madness. I’ll try and answer.

Haha cheers Dave, feels good to be missed.

Hi Cormac. Nah I’m still working full time with H365. I’m keeping projects at a complete minimum.

This isn’t the first time I’ve done something like this. Ah sure it can all be replaced.
